Hancock County Chamber Breakfast; Businesses of the Month Recognized

Chamber Businesses of the Month for May were recognized at the breakfast Tuesday, May 9th, at the Hancock County Career Center.

Businesses recognized at the breakfast were: Owensboro Community Technical College, Hancock County Industrial Foundation and Edward Jones. Rehabilitation & Performance Institute (RPI) sponsored the Breakfast, and provided the speaker, Brittney Hughes.

Hughes is a Physical Therapy Assistant at RPI, with a Bachelor’s in Exercises Science. She is an Orthopedic Specialist, and is a Curriculum Coordinator for OPTA and OMPTA programs. She also specializes in Women’s health. Brittney’s husband, Ethan Hughes, is DPT, CSCS – Physical Therapist at RPI, and recently spoke with students at SHES Career Week about what it means to be a great physical therapist.

“At Rehabilitation and Performance Institute,” Brittney said, “we value one-on-one time with our patients, individualized treatment sessions, and building strong relationships within our community. Our team members consist of Ethan Hughes, Physical Therapist, Lachelle Early and Brittney Hughes, Physical Therapist Assistants, and Shannon Fears, Patient Service Specialist.

Appointments are 40-60 minutes long, consisting of movement pattern assessments and patient education. We look at the body as a whole to figure out the root cause of an issue instead of simply chasing symptoms. There are many reasons to seek out physical therapy such as pain in any body region, pre and post-surgery, and issues with balance or walking.

Unique specialities at RPI

Other unique specialties we treat at RPI include vestibular (dizziness) issues, sports injury and injury risk assessment, and pelvic floor/women’s health therapy.

Two common misconceptions about PT that we want more people to know about.

The first is that you do not need a doctor’s referral to come to therapy unless you have Medicare or Medicaid for health insurance. Secondly, you can specifically request your doctor to send a referral to our clinic. Remember, pain does not have to run your life.”

RPI’s newly renovated physical therapy clinic held an Open House/Grand Re-opening on Thursday, May 11th. They are located at 117 Eastwind Court in Hawesville, and open 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 7 a.m.-noon on Fridays. RPI’s phone number is 270-927-9229.
