Marietta A. Collins

Marietta A. Collins, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. She was born on December 7, 1929, in Spencer County, IN, to the late John C. and Anna C. (Philipps) Strobel.

Marietta was a 1948 graduate of Chrisney High School. She was united in marriage to Jacob T. Collins on October 30, 1951, and they shared 45 wonderful years together. She retired as chief clerk from Ohio Valley Gas Corp.  Marietta was a member of St. Paul Church, Daughters of Isabella, VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing bingo, word puzzles and movies.

Surviving are her daughters, Colleen Smith (Roger), Carla Owen (Mark) both of Tell City, and Kay Ramsey (Larry) of Hawesville; sons, Jerry Collins (Stacey) of Gosport, IN, and David Collins (Dana) of Evansville; brother, Leo Strobel (Sharon) of Tell City; 12 grandchildren, Adam Smith, Tony Smith, Ashley Backherms, Erin Owen, Aimee Owen, Matt Ramsey, Jared Ramsey, Katie Ramsey, Coz Collins, Ethan Collins, Emily Collins, and Isaac Collins; 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Jake Collins; infant son Christopher; and sisters, Esther Lennon, Cleta Dauby and Irene Miller; and brother, Urban Strobel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Kolbe Wolniakowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, with a Daughters of Isabella prayer service at 6:30pm, and from 8:30am to 9:30am on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church or St. Mary’s Cemetery.
