The HCHS track & field teams competed in a tri-meet at Heritage Hills (IN) on 4-18.
Boys results
Alex Basham won the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, two inches. Basham was sixth in the discus at 88–9.5 with Hart Parker of Heritage Hills winning at 128–4.
Ben Baker placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.7 seconds. Landen Garrison was eighth in 12.3, Matthew Carroll 12th in 12.8 and Nathan DeJarnette 15th in 14 seconds flat. Jett Goldsberry of Heritage Hills won in 11.3.
Hunter Stephens placed second in the 1600 meters in 5:22. Emmitt Meserve was seventh in 5:44 and Noah Wheatley ninth in 9:20. Brayden Oxley of Heritage Hills won in 5:20.
“Ben was our top scorer and he was the only boy to earn points in all four of his events,” HCHS coach Wes Meserve said. “Alex and Hunter were our next highest scorers.”
Wyatt Emmick was second in the 300 hurdles in 47.9. Brayden Wathen was fifth in 49.6, Max DeJarnette sixth in 52.4 and Eli Embry seventh in 53.1. Jack Brentlinger of Heritage Hills won in 46.8. “Wyatt looked very good in the hurdles,” the coach said. “Braydon was leading for about 200m but he was really fatigued going into the last three hurdles. Both boys have a lot of potential in this event.”
Wathen was second in the 110 hurdles in 20.7 seconds and Embry was third in 21.1. The winner was Isaiah Bosley of Heritage Hills.
Stephens ran third in the 3200 in 11:44. Meserve was fifth in 12:12. Gavin Shields of Heritage Hills won in 11:23. Baker was third in the 200 meter dash in 25 seconds flat and Cooper Jones was fourth in the exact same time according to the results. Carroll was seventh in 26.1, Landon Hodges 12th in 29.1 and DeJarnette 14th in 30.5.
Tyler Ruxer of Heritage Hills won in 24.2. Jones placed third in the 400 meter dash in 56.6. Hodges was seventh in 1:03.7, Mekhel London ninth in 1:05.3. Matthew Kress of Heritage Hills won in 53.9.
Baker placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 5–04. Brayden Bell of Heritage Hills won at 5–06.
Noah Henson was fourth in the 800 meters in 2:19, with Griffin DeJarnette fifth in 2:22. Henry Proctor was seventh in 2:25. Dominic Hellberg of South Spencer won in 2:12.
Jones was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17–9. Garrison was fifth at 17–2, Embry ninth at 15–4.5 and Emmick 10th at 14–10. Braydon Durham of Heritage Hills won at 19–5.
“Cooper started working on long jump this week and is now ranked in our region,” Meserve said. The 4×100 meter relay team ran second in 48 seconds. Wathen, Garrison, Carroll and Baker ran. The 4×400 relay team was second in 4:02. Jones, Graham Shearn, Griffin DeJarnette and Henson ran. The 4×800 relay team was third in 9:30. Proctor, Henson, Griffin DeJarnette and Stephens ran.
Girls results
Lexus Ralph placed second in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.3. Emma DeWeese of South Spencer won in 1:01.3. “This was Lexus’ best time ever and it’s the fastest time in the region,” Meserve said. Izzy Ross was second in the 1600 meter run in 6:15. Molly Meyer of Heritage Hills won in 6:04.
Ralph was fourth in the 800 meters in 2:46 and Ross fifth in 2:47. Karissa Ralph was seventh in 3:07. The winner was Molly Schnieders of Heritage Hills in 2:42.
Abi Decker was seventh in the 200 meter dash in 31.8. Emma Fulkerson was 10th in 35.3 and Brianna Mooneyham 11th in 36.2. Sally Shelton of South Spencer won in 28.2.
Lyla DeJarnette was third in the 3200 meters in 15:38. Meyer of Heritage Hills won in 13:20. Bailey Poole, Mooneyham and Fulkerson placed 10th thru 12th in the 100 meter dash in 15.3 and 16 seconds respectively. Desiree Doench of South Spencer won in 13.4.
Addy Harrison was 11th in the long jump with a leap of 9–3.5 feet. Shelton of SSHS won at 15–5. Allyson McCormick was 12th in the shot put with a throw of 23–2.5 and Mooneyham was 18th at 20–3. Jaidyn Gogel of Heritage Hills won at 35 feet. Mooneyham was 13th in the discus at 60–5 and McCormick 17th at 43–4. Alexa Fleck won at 103–7.
The 4×800 relay team was second in 11:16. Ross, Ralph, Sydney Weatherholt and Meserve ran. The 4×400 relay team was second in 4:44. The very same girls ran for HCHS.
Apollo meet
The HCHS teams competed in a meet at Apollo last Thursday in Owensboro. The boys 4×800 relay team won in 9:43. The girls 4×800 team was fourth in 12:17.
Ross placed second in the girls 400 meter dash in 1:06. Karissa Ralph was 13th in 1:18 and Lily Lindauer 18th in 1:25. Alivia Norris of Apollo won in 1:05. Lexus Ralph was second in the girls 200 meter dash in 28.59 and Ross was sixth in 29.49. Fulkerson was 22nd in 34.14. Hadley Wolfe of Henderson won in 27.58.
Basham was second in the boys shot put with a throw of 45–07 feet. Bryce Tapp of Owensboro won at 47–09. Basham was ninth in the discus at 87–04. Garrett Poole of Madisonville won at 124–02.
Emmick placed third in the boys 110 hurdles in 18.8 seconds. Wathen was seventh in 20.49 and Embry eighth in 20.55. Collin Jones of Daviess County won in 16.4. Emmick was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 49.02. Wathen sixth in 50.29, Max DeJarnette eighth in 53.46, Embry ninth in 54.24. Jones of DCHS won in 46.91. Baker was fifth in the boys 100 meter dash in 11.4. Garrison was 21st in 12.2, Carroll 31st in 12.33,
Hodges 40th in 12.95. Jaheim Williams of Henderson won in 10.98.
Baker was fifth in the 400 meter dash in 56.78. Stephens was 14th in 59.64, London 16th in 1:00.59 and Hodges 29th in 1:05. Logan Higdon of DCHS won in 53.75. Lexus Ralph was ninth in the girls 1600 meters in 6:13 and Juliana Nevitt 17th in 7:19. Lucy Spaw of DCHS won in 5:33.
Story Conway was ninth in the girls discus at 69–07, Grace Morris 25th at 45–06 and McCormick 26th at 42–05. Mary Ann Lyons of Apollo won at 110–06. McCormick was 10th in the shot put at 24–10.5, Conway 12th at 24–04.5 and Morris 22nd at 17 feet. Lyons won at 33–03.
Baker was 11th in the 200 meter dash in 24.44. Garrison 23rd in 25.54, Wathen 26th in 25.85, Carroll 28th in 25.93, Henson 41st in 28:00, Embry 44th in 28.28 and Hodges 46th in 28.51. Williams won in 22.6.
Nevitt placed 11th in the 800 meters in 3:17. Bentle Stallings of DCHS won in 2:32. Griffin DeJarnette was 13th in the boys 800 in 2:22. Max DeJarnette was 31st in 2:39 and Wheatley 39th in 3:42. Henson was 16th in the boys 1600 in 5:30. Maddox Knight of Madisonville won in 4:44.
Embry was 16th in the long jump with a leap of 15–08. Hunter Holloway of Logan County won at 20–04.5.
Poole was 26th in the girls 100 meter dash in 14.67 and Fulkerson was 35th in 15.98. Analea Sanders of Apollo won in 12.6.
Daviess County won the boys title with 121.5 points. Hancock County was sixth of 11 teams with 35 points.
Henderson County won the girls title with 120.5 points. Hancock was seventh of nine with 24 points.
