Volleyball team earns first wintc “Volleyball team earns first win”

The HCHS Lady Hornets varsity volleyball team recorded its first win of the season Thursday at the middle school. Hancock County won in straight sets over Cloverport with scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-22.

Maddisen Peck served nine aces for the Lady Hornets as Hancock County managed 33 aces as a team. Peck added five assists, three digs and one kill.
Haylee Garrison led in kills with five, while adding 12 digs and four aces. Ashlyn Madden had four kills, one block and two aces, Sophia Reed had 16 assists, Brooke Toler had 10 digs and three aces, Sydney Kennedy had seven digs and five aces, Lauren Kellems had two kills, two blocks, one dig and one ace, Sydney Weatherholt had one kill, eight assists and five aces, Lily Lindaur had seven assists, Sarah Huff had one kill and one ace, Brianna Mooneyham had one block, two digs and one ace, Kennedy Desper and Katie Pritchard had one ace each.

Heritage Hills
The varsity girls fell 0-3 to Heritage Hill (Indiana) on August 16. The Patriots won by scores of 25-7, 25-11 and 25-8.
Toler had 19 digs on the night for HCHS. Kennedy had one kill, 12 digs and one ace, Garrison had one kill, four digs and one ace, Reed had five digs, Kellems had two blocks, Lindauer had three digs, Peck had one assist and two digs, Weatherholt had three assists, Mooneyham, Desper and Madden all had one block each.

Meade County
The varsity girls fell 0-3 to Meade County at Brandenburg Monday. The Lady Waves won by set scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-12.
Kellems had three kills, three blocks and one dig for HCHS. Kennedy had two kills, one assist, nine digs and one ace. Peck had one block, two assists, three digs and one ace. Toler had one kill and 11 digs. Garrison had two kills and six digs. Madden had three blocks and one dig. Weatherholt had four assists and one ace. Reed had one kill. Mooneyham had one block.
