Motion Day Docket of Oct. 26; Hancock Circuit Court

The Honorable Judge Tim R. Coleman took action on the following cases which appeared on the motion day docket of Oct. 26 in Hancock Circuit Court:

• Jacob A. Wroe received supervised probation for a period of five years and was ordered to pay restitution to the victim, as well as $175 in court costs on a charge of theft by unlawful taking (automobile), more than $500 but less than $10,000. The case originated Aug. 9, 2018, on a criminal complaint from Hawesville Police Chief Mark Powers alleging Wroe had taken a 2001 Kia Sportage from the Methodist Church parking lot in Hawesville.

• Joseph S. Church was sentenced to the custody of the Department of Corrections for four years each on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. The sentences are to run consecutively for a total of eight years. The defendant was also sentenced to five years of conditional discharge on both counts and court costs of $175. The case originated from an indictment on Aug. 16, 2019, charging the defendant with first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape (victim under 12 years of age), and second-degree persistent felony offender.

• Darrell L. Moore failed to appear before the Court and a bench warrant was issued with a $2,500 cash bond. Moore was scheduled to appear on charges of theft of services, under $500; first-degree criminal mischief; and second-degree persistent felony offender. The case originated June 23, 2020, with an indictment on the charge, which alleged Moore unlawfully obtained power from Kenergy Corporation and wantonly damaged the property of the utility provider.

• Robin L. Dixon failed to appear before the Court and a bench warrant was issued with a $2,500 cash bond. Dixon was scheduled to appear on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second offense; possession of marijuana; and possess/buy drug paraphernalia. The case originated with an indictment on Oct. 30, 2017.
