Van hits fire department
An Owensboro man suffered a serious head injury after his van went through the wall of the Hawesville Volunteer Fire Department Station Tuesday. The accident happened at approximately 12:15 p.m. Hawesville Police Chief Mark Powers filed the accident report.

Christopher R. Sidener of Owensboro was driving a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan north on Main Street when for some unknown reason his van went off the left side of the roadway, ran over a mailbox at Robert McCann’s house at 335 Main Street, went through several yards and then crashed through the outside wall of the fire department at 395 Main Street. The crash damaged fire equipment inside the bay at the fire station.

Hancock County EMS responded to the scene and provided first aid to Sidener. After stabilizing Sidener, emergency personnel transported him to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for additional treatment.
The van sustained very severe damage. A wrecker from Bob’s Garage removed the vehicle.
