Director of Hancock County Career Center, Kim Estes provides information on all services

The Hancock County Career Center offers many helpful resources and the Director, Kim Estes, has been in her position for five years now. “I really love my community and I want to help out in any way I can,” Kim said. “I would love to see the community grow and thrive.”
Mini Job Fairs
For about a month now, Kim has been holding a “Mini Job Fair” at the Career Center, every Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Employers set up inside and are available for people to go in and talk to. “You can see what they have to offer, what positions are available and bring your resume, if you have one,” she said. Employers present at these events may include: Commonwealth, Century, Waupaca, Parmamount Staffing, Man Power, DXE, Specialty Food Groups, Glenmore, Daramic, Job Corps, and ATTC.
A different food truck is there each Friday, such as: Tri-R-Tips BBQ, Curbside Kitchen, Taqueria, Ben’s Soft Pretzels, Jay’s Good Grub, Roll Tide BBQ, Slick Back BBQ, and Jay’s Fired Up & Smoking. These fairs will continue every Friday until October 15th.
Services Offered at Career Center
Monday through Friday from 8.a.m. until 4 p.m., you can receive help at the Career Center: filling out applications online or paper applications, assistance creating resumes, check on job listings, get a free workKeys test for KY residents, find training opportunities for scholarships & trainings, get in touch with Vocational Rehab, receive assistance with Disability & finding jobs, help with employment for disabled Veterans, help to employers in finding employees & ads run for free, and career coaching assessments to find what career best fits you.
The Hancock County Career Center is located in The Development Complex, ½ mile past Vastwood entrance on the right (when travelling from Lewisport to Hawesville), 1 mile past Hancock County High School. Soil Conservation, Goodwill, Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Foundation and UK Extension Offices are also in the building. Kim grew up in Lewisport and was raised by her grandparents, the late Bud and Thelma Curl. She graduated from HCHS in 1993. She started working for the county at the Treasurer’s Office as Assistant to Melissa Johnson. Then, Judge McCaslin offered her a job as Director at the Career Center when Carolyn Nugent retired. She has worked for the county for 15 years altogether. “I’ve always been blessed with good jobs that I’ve loved,” she said. She has a daughter and a son: Kiera Gammon and Taxton Knight.
