Owensboro woman dies from accident in Lewisport

An Owensboro woman died in an accident west of Lewisport on August 17 at roughly 2:30 a.m.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Emmick filed the accident report. According to Emmick’s report, Kimberly M. Cooper of Owensboro was driving a 2007 Ford Escape at a high rate of speed on state Route 334 in the Waitman area west of Lewisport, when her vehicle left the road and overturned several times.

“For unknown reasons unit one left the right side of the roadway while entering a slight curve,” Emmick’s report said.
Cooper’s vehicle traveled a short distance on the side of the road before entering a bean field and began to slide. Eventually the vehicle overturned and rolled over before coming to rest in the bean field.

“The driver of unit one was ejected and came to rest next to the roadway near the bean field,” Emmick wrote. “Subject was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The coroner was called and removed the driver.”

Under factors in the accident, Emmick listed the vehicle not being under proper control. The vehicle sustained very severe damage. A wrecker from Bob’s Garage towed the vehicle.
