Last Thursday and Friday Lewisport experienced a phone outage that lasted approximately 22 hours. Earlier this week TDS Associate Manager of Communications Missy Kellor confirmed a problem with a 10-gig backhaul line between Lewisport and Chicago, Ill. caused the outage. Kellor said some type of damage occurred to the line, but since it is not owned or maintained by TDS but AT&T, she did not know where the damage occurred, nor what caused the damage.
The Clarion attempted to find a media relations person with AT&T to find out where the damage happened, and what caused the damage, but could not find a name or number for a media contact. So, what exactly caused the line to go out is unknown at this point.
