Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a free program that allows children under the age of five to receive a complimentary book each month. There is absolutely no cost or obligation to your family. We are excited to provide this service to our county’s youngest residents, thanks in no small part to our community partners: Independence Bank and Hancock County Public Schools. Registration forms and further information can be found at Independence Bank, either library location, or through the library’s website (hcplky.org) by clicking on the “Dolly Parton Imagination Library” tile.
Children’s Crafts and Storytime
Miss Savannah would like to let all of her friends and caregivers know that she will be taking a short break from virtual Storytime. You won’t get a chance to miss her for too long- she will be back on Facebook both Wednesdays and Fridays beginning February 3rd with a smorgasbord of stories. We hope all our Storytime friends and caregivers are having a great start to their new year.
The ability to stay connected virtually is more important than ever, particularly for our students. Wi-Fi at both our Hawesville location and Lewisport branch is available for your devices when you need it! While we are operating under limited occupancy and hours, keep in mind that the Wi-Fi may be accessed from our parking lots. The Wi-Fi service is in addition to computers we have available for use at this time during operating hours.
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Movie Book by Laura Shapiro
Sometimes you want to dive into a novel and others you want to thumb through something more visual. Especially when that book celebrates a beloved film series that has garnered fans for decades now. The summer 2020 release of Bill and Ted Face the Music marked the culmination of the trilogy and this book is the perfect companion to the films, which are part of the Library’s collection as well. The book itself is beautifully designed and contains insights from the creators cast and crew. There are also behind the scenes looks, never before seen photographs and much more.
The characters fans love throughout the three films are all highlighted within the book and you’re bound to find out a piece of movie trivia you didn’t know before. There is a particularly touching story at the end of the book involving a tribute paid to a fan in the third film, that I won’t spoil, that is a testament to the heart of these films and the underlying message to “Be Excellent to Each Other and Party on Dudes!”
