Emerson Harold Young

Emerson Harold Young, known as Harold, passed away Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 after a 7-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease and a week long fight with Covid-19.  He was residing in Mt Vernon, IL at the time of his death.  He was born August 16th, 1941 to Emerson and Rachel (Tongate) Young in Lewisport, KY.  Harold graduated from Lewisport High School in 1959 and received his B.S. degree in Finance from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY in 1963.  He married Millie Combs, who he met at Georgetown, also in 1963.  He is survived by his wife, Millie, his daughter and husband, Veneda and David Brown, all of Mt Vernon, IL, his son and wife, Brian and Audrey (Farmer) Young, and his grandchildren, Chelsea Turchek, Hunter Hayes, and Ashlynn Hayes, all of Spring, TX.  He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard Young.  The integrity of his life was a testament to his abiding faith in the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ.  He deeply loved his family and celebrated his life by spending time with them, bowling, and eating lots of ice cream.  Hughey Funeral Home in Mt Vernon, IL is in charge of cremation arrangements and a memorial service will be held in Lewisport, KY at a later date.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Harold Young Memorial Fund for St Jude’s Childrens’s Research Hospital @ stjudes.org.
