Pedestrian injured
An Owensboro woman suffered a severe foot injury after being run over by a pickup truck in the Jumpin Jacks parking lot on June 23. The accident happened at approximately 4 p.m. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Hendrick wrote in his report that as Patricia Buchanan walked towards the front door of Jumpin Jacks in Lewisport from the gas pump area, a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by David A. Jackson of Fordsville, KY did not see her due to the sun’s glare, and struck Mrs. Buchanan with the front passenger side of his truck. The vehicle then ran over Mrs. Buchanan’s ankle.
Hancock County EMS provided first aid at the scene. Later, Hancock County EMS transported Mrs. Buchanan to Perry County Memorial Hospital for additional treatment.
The pickup truck sustained very minor damage. It did not require a tow.

Poplar Grove accident
No one suffered injury in an accident at the intersection of Poplar Grove Road and state Route 657, just south of Lewisport. The accident happened at roughly 3 p.m. on June 22. Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Hendrick filed the accident report.
Crystal R. Hall, of Lewisport, approached the intersection of Poplar Grove Road and state Route 657 in her 2009 Kia Rio, headed north. Hall failed to see an approaching 2016 Jeep Cherokee, also headed north, driven by Skylar A. Burch of Hawesville. Hall pulled out in front of Burch, and the two vehicles sideswiped.
Burch’s Jeep Cherokee sustained minor damage, but did not need a tow. Hall’s Rio sustained moderate to severe damage, and it also did not require a tow.
