Two petitions are circulating in Hancock County to gather signatures for what promises to be a contentious debate: should the county and/or the city of Hawesville go wet?
George Banks filed papers last week signaling his intent to circulate a petition to gather signatures to allow voters to decide in the next election whether they want to allow the sale of alcohol in the city limits of Hawesville. A similar petition was filed this week to gather signatures for the county, although the organizer has asked not to be named.
