Domtar boiler to arrive via barge Monday; will slow traffic Tuesday

By Dave Taylor

Downtown Hawesville will be the site of a major production next week, when an enormous boiler will arrive via barge, be offloaded onto an oversized trailer, and then take a very slow ride to its final destination, the Domtar mill east of town.

The $8.5 million auxiliary boiler has made a four-week river trek through Houston, New Orleans, Mississippi and Illinois, but will soon be making its way down the Ohio River to Hawesville, scheduled to arrive by October 8.
