In May 2014, Austin Haaff was the star of the Hancock County High School track team, leading the boys to the Region 2A championship as the meet’s top scorer. Now just four years later, he’s facing life in prison after police say he murdered his infant son.

Haaff, 22, was charged with capital murder after authorities say he shook his 3-month-old son, Collin Haaff, causing severe injuries that led to the boy’s death six days later.
