Behind the scenes: Dispatchers unseen but vital

April 8th through 14th is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, celebrating the people who are normally out of sight and out of mind until something goes terribly wrong.

In Hancock County, 10 dispatchers take shifts at the county’s dispatch center in Hawesville, working 24 hours a day in solitude and near complete anonymity.
