James Edward Harpe, 86 of Cloverport passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
He was born October 29, 1931 in Addison, KY to the late Estil and Dora Dowell Harpe. During his life he worked several different manufacturing plants and after several years he retired from Domtar Paper Mill. He also worked at some movie theatres. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, but his special love for woodworking. He built Grandfather Clocks and specialty cabinets.
Leaving behind to mourn his passing, but celebrating the life that he lived is his loving wife, Virginia Tucker Harpe; sons, David (Tracey) Harpe of Owensboro, Garry (Janie) Harpe of Coal Creek, CO, Steve (Connie) Harpe of Chicago; brother, Ohmurl Harpe, Louisville; sister, Aggie Butler, Hardinsburg; grandchildren, Tara, Brandon, Jimmy, Shaun & Salena; great grandchildren, Hannah, Orion & Drew.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 10 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bobby Stinnett officiating at Cloverport Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Cloverport Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturday, from 10:00 am until service time.
