John “Red” G. McClellan, 79 of Cloverport passed away November 4, 2017 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
He was born August 13, 1938 in Breckinridge County at home to the late James B. & Mary Ann McGovern McClellan.
Red, as he affectionally liked to be called retired from Dal-Tile plant after many years of service. He loved gardening, mowing the yard, work, helping everyone and being the historian for the family. One of his greatest passions was aggravating everyone in a very good-natured manner.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Damon, Larry & Garland McClellan and sister, Dorothy Smiley.
Leaving behind to mourn the loss of his passing is his wife, Dottie Whitehouse McClellan; daughters, Beth (John) Probus of Henderson, Erika (Lewis) Atwood of Cloverport; brothers, James A. “Lightning” (Eloise) McClellan of Cloverport, McArthur “Mac” McClellan of Cloverport; sisters, Eva Mae Dewitt of Lewisport, Del Cahal, Hawesville, Shirley Robbins, Hardinsburg, Linda Nash, Hardinsburg, Louise Stilwell, Lewisport, Vallery (Ray) Powers, Cloverport, Sylvia (Sam) Priest, Hardinsburg; grandchildren, Drew (Paige) Probus, Jacob Probus, Allie Atwood, Lauren Probus, Brandon Atwood and great grandson, Jacob R. Probus.
A Mass celebrating Red’s life will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cloverport with Fr. Dan Kreutzer officiating. Burial will follow at Old St. Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday at Cloverport Funeral Chapel.
