Experimental asphalt laid in Vastwood; uses recycled tires

Hancock County is taking part in a state experiment to find out if asphalt made from old tires might be the future of paving.

The county received about $78,000 in the form of a Rubber-Modified Asphalt Grant from the state, which has been used to pave half of Vastwood Park with crumb rubber, while the county is responsible for paving the other half with standard asphalt.
