High school Memory Garden needs help
HCHS brings back the "Brick Program"

In the summer of 1998, due to the deaths of several Hancock County High
School students, recent graduates, and members of the community, the senior
class developed a Memory Garden to pay respect to these citizens.

A plot of land was made ready and parents of lost loved ones provided
flowers and trees along with many decorative pieces to be placed in the
garden.

Bricks were made available to dedicate to a lost loved one or someone
influential in the community still living today. As months passed, bricks
were purchased and placed along the outskirts of the garden, customized and
dedicated to the special individuals.

Since then, hardly any new bricks have been added, leaving the perimeter
unfinished. Hancock County High School would like to extend an offer to the
community to purchase a brick in honor of someone special to you. It is our
desire to further beautify this section of sacred ground with your generous
contributions. By purchasing a brick, you can honor your school colleagues,
group affiliations, favorite teacher, parent, long time friend, or high
school graduate in this unique way.

Principal Rick Lasley suggested an idea to Mrs. Lori Roberts' Principle
Marketing class to publish a newer brochure with information about the
Memory Garden for the community. These brochures can be found at places like
Bill's IGA, Crossroads in Lewisport, local banks, the high school, and other
businesses around the county. Support of any kind would be greatly
appreciated to help build onto the unfinished garden. For more information
please call Judy Steiner at (270) 927-6953.
